Such a great way to start our morning with @sogood_inc and @belongcoidaho brewing some great coffee and smiles for our staff! It was such a treat to see their coffee cart roll into the hall and get a chance to talk to the baristas and crew. Thanks for visiting us and helping to warm us up on this chilly morning!

We love our community helpers! Firefighters came by today to give a special safety presentation to our younger students. They got to hear a very important message and see some really cool equipment. We appreciate them helping us learn and being in our community to keep us safe!

Teamwork makes the dream work! In PE class students need to collaborate, problem solve and work together in a variety of ways. We made sure to focus on learning to work together to achieve more. What looked or sounded like a difficult task at the beginning became easier by coming up with a strategy and having everyone do a different part. Great work!
When students get an opportunity to learn through living through the history, it takes their learning to a whole different level. Our 4th graders have been studying Idaho History all year, learning about the westward expansion and how early settlers lived when they moved west and made Idaho their home. On Friday, they put their learning into action at our Rendezvous. They made toys and necklaces, did a scavenger hunt, attempted to rope their cattle, and more! Thanks to our 4th grade teachers for organizing the event, our district assistants, and parent volunteers for their help!
Hello! We are Silver Sage Elementary! We have students who speak many languages here. Some were born in other countries and moved here. Some of them were born here too. Together at school, we learn together, about each other, and about our schoolwork too.
Friday we celebrated "Heritage Day" and our Multi Language Learners program, Miss Lloyd and Mrs. Joana, had their students write "Hello" in their native languages to welcome students to our assembly. How many of these languages do you recognize?
Spring has arrived in Idaho and we are loving it! Kindergartener's got to finish their lesson on the life cycle of butterflies by releasing their new friends into the world! Sprinkles and Smith are just a few of the friends that our kinder classes got to learn about and see fly away after their growth in class.
More STEM Day fun! Thanks to the SSE STEM Committee for organizing this amazing event and the community volunteers for assisting students in the engaging stations!
On Wednesday, students were surrounded by everything STEM during our STEM Day event! Stations were set up that allowed students to learn and explore different aspects of Science, Engineering, Math and Science to help them use their learner powers of Wonder, Reflection, and Collaboration! We even got to experience the Star Lab, helping students learn about the stars and constellations in the night sky! Lots of smiles all day! #STEM #Westadaschools
Last weekend we had some amazing teams of readers compete in Idaho Battle of the Books (IBOB)! These teams had to read 16 books over the last few months and during the competition were asked details that only the sharpest of readers would be able to remember! Team Mythics made it to the quarterfinals, and The Cookies worked together to answer everything they could! Both teams represented Silver Sage proudly!

Last week, 5th grader Sofia showcased her amazing artistic skills! Her painting of the Grand Teton National Park was chosen to represent Silver Sage at the district art show. Our 4th graders have continued their exploration of Idaho History with an opportunity to get their hands dirty with some panning for gold! Students learned about the Gold Rush and sifted the dirt to find as much gold as possible. They got to experience the thrill of seeing those gold sparkles shining in the pan as they struck it rich!
Our 1st graders got to explore the Boise Zoo on Friday! The weather was beautiful as they waked through the exhibits to see the different wildlife. Students' got to see the creatures that they only see pictures of and read about all of a sudden right in front of them in real life! What an amazing experience.
