Are Frontier kids competitive? That might be an understatement!
Tug-a-War is a last day favorite for both students and staff.
And in case you haven't heard yet....the staff beat the 5th graders!

Congratulations to our 5th grade Presidential Award Recipients. "Founded in 1983, the President's Education Awards Program (PEAP) honors graduating elementary, middle and high school students for their achievement and hard work" (U.S. Department of Education). These kids should be proud of their determination and success at Frontier.

This morning we celebrated our 5th graders with a family breakfast and a farewell walk through the hallway. It has been amazing to watch this group of kids learn and grow into the young people they are today. We wish you the best of luck in your middle school adventure!

Have you ever wondered why some things explode? Well, Mrs. Carr's 5th graders have some answers for you!
These 5th graders investigated and modeled how gases cause explosions. The students experimented by combining baking soda and vinegar inside a sealed bag and observed how the gas bubbles produced caused the bag to inflate–and in some cases explode!

Field Day Fun!
Thank you to Mr. Thompson for putting on such a great day for our kids, and to all of the volunteers. We couldn't have done it without you!

Mrs. Jermann's 4th graders have been learning about gold mining in Idaho, so what better way to wrap up the unit than by mining for chocolate chip cookies.
Each student got a taste for mining as they had to pay for their "mining claim", mining tools, and reclamation fees. After mining, the students had to pay their debts before determining if they struck it rich or they walked away empty handed.

The class of 2035 has officially completed Kindergarten!
We can't wait to spend the next five years watching these kids grow, embrace challenges, and soar to success.

The Meridian Rotary Club is working to help schools have materials needed to increase recycling. They recently donated new recycling bins to Frontier in aid in this process.

Our kids have been hard at work this year!
Earlier this semester, our students set academic goals for themselves and have been working hard to reach them. They have use their learner behaviors (determined, reflective, ownership, and collaboration to name a few), and have been successful in accomplishing their goals! We couldn't be happier for them! Congrats, Kids!

Last week @westadaschools honored our classified and certified employees of the year at the "We are WestAda Staff Recognition Awards". We couldn't be happier for Ms. Keifer and Mrs. Frazier who were both celebrated at the event.

Mrs. Dutcher's 4th graders showed determination yesterday as they built chain reactions while focusing on stored and transferred energy.

Our kindergarteners, first, second and third graders have been taking the Idaho Reading Indicator over the past few days, so of course they had to walk the testing tunnel! These learners have shown determination and ownership on the test, and we can't be prouder of them!

Thank you to all of the families that joined us for a "Night for the Senses" at last week's Spring Fling! The kids were able to plant seeds thanks to a generous donation from Lowe's, pet therapy dogs, make sensory ball with the YMCA, and visit classrooms. We want to thank all of our community partners for making the night such a success!

It's a-me, Mario!
These 5th grade mathematicians have worked hard all week to complete their coordinate planes Mario Bros. project. Great job, 5th Grade!

Miss Jessica, our preschool para, has recently been diagnosed with multiple forms of cancer. Our thoughts are with her as she will undergo surgery later this week. We can't wait to see her back at school this fall!

Our 5th graders had an amazing opportunity to attend the American Civil War Living History event at Eagle Island this week. They were able to learn about life in camp for soldiers, foods they ate, and how to march with a battalion.

Salmon Creek Gracious Retirement Living has adopted Frontier Elementary and will be supporting us with fundraisers. They invited Frontier staff members to an Italian feast with their residents last week. Miss Betty even gave them her special spaghetti sauce recipe. Their donations will help support the climate and culture at Frontier.

Each month we like to recognize students who have been "Flying High". These kids have displayed learner dispositions by taking ownership of their learning, stayed determined, and reflected on their learning. As result, they eat lunch at the "Flying High" table and be recognized by their peers for their efforts in the classroom. Congrats, Kids!

Thanks to a deposit from PTO and scholarship monies from the Idaho Botanical Gardens, Frontier's 2nd graders enjoyed a field trip to the Idaho Botanical Gardens. A big thanks Frontier PTO and Idaho Botanical Gardens for making this field trip possible.

Our 4th graders had an an amazing opportunity to visit the Idaho State Museum yesterday where they were taken on a journey to learn about Idaho's origins. They learned about Idaho's five tribal nations, Lewis and Clark's expedition through Idaho, fur trapping in Idaho, and the Oregon Trail.
We want to thank Frontier's PTO for paying the admission costs for all of our students. The kids had a great time!
