Bounce & Scratch again had impressive sales today due to three parents from the team showing up and giving amazing support! That is a new parent purchase record in the history of VMS Computer Explorations sales for one team! Great job, parents!
A special thank you to all of the sixth grade helpers who made sixth grade lunch sales possible.
With a total class profit of $132.95, Ms. Cornell and her Computer Explorations class want to thank everyone who helped this year's project be a success. They are still figuring out their individual profits or losses while learning Excel, but the joy of entrepreneurship has definitely been sparked for some students.
Tomorrow students can opt to spend their money on DONUTS during all lunches. $1 Donuts that benefit the school is a gift PTSO keeps giving once a month all year long. Thank you, PTSO!
CONGRATULATIONS to Megan Jensen, Darcy Cluff and Kylie Peterson for their 3rd Place Win of the Idaho Capital Educators Trailer Competition! School Psychologist, Rachel Vachon, their team driver, photographer, and support person took these great pictures of this fantastic event. Our Fierce Wanderers want to thank EVERYONE for your awesome support!
If Ethan's smiles were money, Ethan's business would be the richest business ever as his older brother put a huge smile on his face today buying $20 worth of product to help place them as one of the highest earning businesses during Ms. Cornell's Computer Explorations Student-made Business Project today! Tomorrow is the last day of sales during all three lunches. The whole class is only $49.79 away from breaking even to repaying the school the seed money that was loaned for the project. Will Bounce & Scratch have enough of a business profit to beat out today's big sales by Cracked Popitz? Or, will the Rubik's Cubes still be the VMS favorite? Come buy some fun dip, blow pops or double bubble gum while playing with that new skate board, squishie, squeezie, monkey or popper and see for yourself!

CONGRATULATIONS to Bridget King, our STAFF MEMBER of this WEEK!
The art work that Mrs. King showcases in the hallway brings so much joy to our school! She puts so much work into her art projects and she builds great bonds with her students where they feel safe and want to do their best work in class. There is not a day that goes by that she doesn't add light and laughter to someone in our school. Thanks for all you do!
Congratulations to Lisa Calloway for being our first week of March's STAFF MEMBER of the WEEK!
Lisa Callaway is inspirational to her students and her colleagues. She is a genuine contributor to a more positive culture at VMS by creating opportunities for students to shine. I really appreciate all of her extra efforts with our school spelling bee, our weekly advisory schedule, and any student council related activities. Her input at leadership meetings and time she takes to share specific input about students for the benefit of all are also much appreciated. Keep up the fantastic work, Lisa! Your a bright star at VMS!
Kylie Peterson was nominated and selected for our VMS student of the week recognition by Mrs. Jennifer Stoor.
Congratulations to our STUDENT OF THE WEEK: Kylie Peterson!
Here is what Mrs. Stoor had to say about Kylie:
“Kylie comes to class every day with a positive attitude and a smile. She is a hard worker and helps others as well. I enjoy Kylie's commitment to doing her best and being such a light at Victory!”
An extra note from Ms. Cornell: If you would like to see Kylie's movie she made with Megan Jensen and Darcy Cluff, come out this Wednesday at 6 p.m. to Overland Park Cinema to support them at the CapEd Trailer Competition! Kylie's a winning Filmmaker from VMS!
Can you believe it's March already?! This weekend you lose an hour as we spring our clocks forward, so please adjust your March 27th Yearbook buying deadline by an hour, too. Make sure that our bookkeeper gets the $26.50 by the end of the school day March 27th, or you will miss out on this year's special moments collection.
Also, please check your phones for school related appropriate pictures and upload them to our snapshot link for yearbook that can be found under our Timely Topics on our website.
Congratulations to our amazing Mrs. Erin Fuss as our STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH! Nurse Fuss does more than just take care of all of our bumps, bruises and bloody noses. She educates all on various health related information relevant to school, monitors and supports many people within the school for various health needs and is always ready with a supportive smile to help make any level of headache not seem so horrible. We appreciate your expertise so much, Nurse Erin! Thank you for what you do!
Here’s your Food Drive Update: THANK YOU!!! Before we get to tally updates, we want to thank you for participating and providing food for your community. Think of all the people you impacted by your generosity! Keep it going! What could you do next to help your community?
Now for the tally updates: We’ve now got 6 barrels filled up, which is great news! Yesterday was a huge turnaround for some classes. The top four advisories in the lead as of yesterday were: Team Ferrer, Team Grzanic, Team Maimer, and a tie for fourth place—Team Hylands & Thorpe vs. Team Benzel & Rosbaugh.
Who will be the winners of the breakfast party? Who will get to participate in the kickball tournament? Which class will win the raffle because they donated at least 30 items? All this, coming up on Monday!
We are not able to accept any more donation items for the competition after today. Teachers: please get all your tally slips turned in NO LATER than today at 3:15, or they will not count.
Thursday, March 9th, 2023, our previous recipient teacher, Gina Janke, recognized our kitchen manager Marge Kimball as our "World's Greatest Staff Member of the Month!" by saying "Thank you for being AMAZING, Marge! We appreciate all that you do for our students and staff."
These internal recognitions happen every month at our all staff meetings and mean a lot to the positive culture of our school. We're very fortunate in all areas of VMS to have so many people deserving of this award that the humble receptions of the awards act as positive evidence of why our school is so awesome!
Marge responded, "Thank you so much! This ole “Lunch Lady” is completely humbled and honored to be acknowledged by all of you. Know that I share this award with my staff as well as the student servers, for they are the ones who make my job easier every day. Again, thank you, we will cherish this award for the next month."
The 7/8 Orchestra is performing their Festival Concert along with the MVHS Chamber Groups tonight at 7:00 in the Auditorium at MVHS. Come out and support our young musicians if you are able.
