Big thanks to Ada County Sheriff’s K-9 unit for visiting us today!🚓 🐶 The students loved meeting four-legged officer, Eli, along with his handler Officer Kastler in learning how they work to protect us. They showed off their amazing skills to help raise awareness about drug prevention and how K-9's are vital tools to their department. Pawsitively awesome!

This week's highlights🐿️ 🍎 Little hands, big apples! The kinder team had a blast picking apples at their field trip to Anderson Apple Ranch. 🍃 Leaf-ing our mark with Acorn Points Rewards! Mrs. deMarini's class, Mrs. Codispoti's class and Mrs. DeBoard's class enjoyed quality time doing something new with their teachers as a reward for hitting their Acorn Point Milestone.

Arrrg! It's National School Nutrition Week!🦜⚓ To kick off School Nutrition Week, we had some visitors stop by! Simplot stopped by with some pirate themed prizes for our students. Then Westy the Dragon, our school nutrition mascot, helped serve lunch and made the crowd go wild with their dancing. Thank you @westadanutrition and @jrsimplotco for stopping by and bringing awareness to the need for well-balanced meals!

Good choices lead to great rewards! 🧭🏆 Last week, several classes reached the 200-point milestone in our new Positive Behavior Supports system and earned their reward! Mrs. Spencer, Mrs. Albertson, Mrs. Lavoie, and Miss Wilcox's (not pictured) classes voted to have lunch with their teachers today. Other classes like Mrs. Jakious and Mr. Vincent voted for a fancy pencil and cool eraser. Great job demonstrating the Seven Oaks Way in specials and the lunchroom!

Today is School Custodian Appreciation Day🧹 A huge thank you goes to our custodians Jeanne, Fille, and Joy for helping keep our school a clean environment for our students. We'd be a mess without you!

This week's highlights🐿️ 🌳Mrs. Brooksher's class had a science lesson where they explored different ways to make paper stronger by bending and attaching materials to index cards. They even got to test their papers strength by seeing how many books their tower could hold. 🌳Mrs. Albertson's class was practicing counting to 5 by showing and writing the numbers!

This week's highlights🐿️ 🌳Mrs. Jakious' class had another successful Math Fact Fluency Fun Friday where they play games to practice math facts and develop automaticity. They did addition and subtraction war with decks of cards. 🌳Miss McKnight's class made "All About Me" banners and hats 🌳Mrs. Mansberger's class met their class point reward and had a read in! 🌳

⭐Happy IT Professionals Day to our tech guru, Garrett Kovalesky ⭐ We wholeheartedly appreciate you for saving the day for SOE staff...a lot! Here's a bit about Mr. Kovalesky: 🌳3 years at SOE 🌳4 years in education 🌳My favorite thing about SOE are the oaks! The campus and staff at SOE have a sense of resilience and calm that is unmatched. Our beautiful trees mirror that perfectly. 🌳"You'll see it when you know it." 🌳Outside of school I like hiking, cooking, biking, and computer gaming.

This week's highlights🐿️ 🌳Mrs. Barkes' class got their data binders and put their squirrels on the 'Forrest of Reading trees. 🌳Mrs. Richmond's class got to play "How Many Am I Hiding", which teaches algebraic thinking.

It's Ag Fair Day!🐐🐴🐄 Our 1st grade team went to the Ag Fair today! They got to see tractors, so many farm animals, and learned so much! Thank you MHS and MHS FFA for hosting and teaching our kids about all things Ag!

⭐Happy PT Appreciation Day to our physical therapist, Allison Darsey! ⭐ We appreciate your dedication and hard work with our students and families at SOE! Here's a bit about Mrs. Darsey: 🌳Just started my 4th year (2 pre-covid and the last 2) 🌳9 years in education 🌳My favorite thing about Seven Oaks is the amazing students and staff members. 🌳"You'll never be bored when you try something new. There's really no limit to what you can do!" Dr. Seuss 🌳I spend most of my time with my husband and 2 kiddos. We have lots of after school activities during the week which keep us very busy. On the weekends, we love to go on bike rides and walks together. I also love to read and enjoy time in my backyard.

This week’s highlights🐿️ 🌳Mrs. Spencer's class enjoyed time with their new Kinder Buddies from Mrs. B's class, worked on geography and enjoyed their free time wisely. 🌳Mrs. Lavoie's class started completing science experiments and learning about early Indigenous Americans. 🌳Mrs. McManus' class completed a squiggle activity in which they made a picture and story to go with it. Reminder from the PTA! September's PTA meeting will be coming up on September 12th so mark your calendars!

Please join us at Back to School Night tomorrow, August 29th at 6pm! You will begin each session in your children's classrooms. Session One: 6:00-6:20 Session Two: 6:25-6:45 Session Three: 6:50-7:10 **Each session will have the same information. Parents/Guardians only need to attend one session per classroom. Back-to-School Night is intended for parents/guardians. We ask parents to make every effort to attend without students due to space and management. We hope to see you all there!

This week’s highlights🐿️ The Kinder Crew are settling into their routines and loving their specials! It’s been so fun to watch them grow and learn all the new subjects! A big shoutout to our PTA for hosting yet another fun Pop in and Chill Event. The staff loves getting together to see our families.

Prepare for all the smiles😊 Individual picture day will be on Tuesday, August 27th. Teachers are sending home flyers to purchase pictures so keep an eye out!
