
As we have our last couple of weeks of school (10 days left!), teachers with the help of our amazing Social Committee and PTSO have been enjoying the ABC Countdown with various activities and treats to sweeten up these last 26 days of the school year. Yesterday was "P" for "Pair Up Day" and here are a couple of pictures that were submitted to your webmaster to enjoy.

***Tennis:
Tennis had a great showing this past week getting wins vs. Eagle and Star. Districts will be on Thursday, May 18th. The host site is Sawtooth and from there kids will be shuttled to different sites. Make sure to have your kids communicate where they will be playing. Play is scheduled to start at 10am on the 18th.
***Track:
Track has their final meet this Friday at MVHS and then they will be preparing for Districts which will be on May 23rd and 24th at Eagle High School. Thank you to all the volunteers that signed up for our meet at MVHS. Keep up the good work Kodiaks!

This Friday is not only 8th Grade Awards Ceremony Day, Donut for $1 at all lunches day, Warrior Day, and Play at 7 p.m. day, but it is also get your books turned in to the library day so you don't get fined day.

CONGRATULATIONS to National History Day winner, Tanner Atwood! Tanner Atwood placed 3rd in state for his National History Day paper entitled "Departure from the Gold Standard: Economic Frontiers in the U.S. Journey to Fiat Currency."
Tanner’s NHD paper received 1st place in the school district. Way to win!


CONGRATULATIONS to Jennifer Livesey, OUR MAY STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH! Ms. Livesey works closely with students to help them achieve at high levels. She is positive, caring, kind and supportive! Thanks for all you do!


CONGRATULATIONS to our STAFF MEMBER of the WEEK, Mrs. Bethany Updike!
A colleague had this to say about her, "I haven't been able to talk to Bethany very much this year since our rooms are so far apart, but I had a chance to chat with her for a bit recently. It doesn't take long for you to recognize how much she genuinely loves and cares for students. She is someone who is a natural advocate for kids and does whatever she can to create a supportive environment in her classroom. We're lucky to have her at VMS!"



CONGRATULATIONS to our STUDENT OF THE WEEK, Kylee Scripture! She was nominated and selected for our VMS student of the week recognition by Mrs. Barfuss who had this to say about her, "Kylee exhibits all of the characteristics of a Victory Middle School Kodiak. She listens intently to the lessons when I am teaching, follows instructions, asks questions if she doesn't understand something, and is patient and helpful to those around her. She is always striving to do her best and to be the best student she can in the classroom and in the hallways. Thank you Kylee!"

We need some more volunteers to make our Friday, May 12th track meet at Mountain View operate fast and smooth. Please look at the sign-up genius below and pick a spot. We also need someone that loves to be on the PA system to help be our announcer from 5:30-end of meet (hoping for 7:00ish). The announcer gets to sit in the nice press box!

***Tennis:
This past Thursday our A- team was on the road against Heritage and our B-team stayed home to defend our home court. Next week is the big wrap up of the season with 3 matches happening before the district tournament. On Tuesday, May 9th our tennis teams will compete against Lowell Scott (A-team home/B-team @ LS); on Wednesday, May 10th our teams will compete against Eagle (A-team @ Eagle/B-team home); and then on Thursday, May 11th our teams will compete against Star (A-team home/B-team @ Star). The district tournament will be on Thursday, May 18th (more information to come).
***Track:
Our track team had a great second meet with our boys taking second and our girls winning the meet at Owyhee High School last Friday. They will be competing this Friday, May 5th at Mountain View High School. The following Friday, May 12th is our home meet at Mountain View High School starting at 4pm.

This is a wonderful opportunity to honor the hard work and dedication of our School Nutrition professionals. These individuals show up every day to provide nourishing meals to the students of West Ada, and it's important that we recognize their efforts.

Let’s all take part in this special day by showing our appreciation with notes from students, thank-you signs, and simple gestures like telling them “you rock.” These men and woman arrive at 5:00am to ensure that breakfast and lunch are ready for our students to start their day of learning every day. Let’s make sure they know how much we value and appreciate all that they do.


Next week from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., our VMS library will be hosting its annual Book Fair. Our librarian, Mrs. Bollinger, and her assistant, Mrs. Skaggs, welcome you to make purchases for your family or friends and even want you to consider Teacher Appreciation Week gifts.
