Staff of the Week: Our LHMS Counselors have been extra busy lately. Britney, Cara, Laura, and Madeline support our students throughout all of the holiday emotions (good and bad), help parents and students navigate stress at the end of the semester (as the reality of grades hits many), and create new schedules (and a thousand requests for adjustments) for the new semester. As an added twist this Tuesday, they need to quickly re-sort some overlapping classes, no small feat in a short period of time. Thank you for everything you do!

Due to the current level of snow throughout the valley and the predicted continuation of snow, our schools will be experiencing a snow day today, Wednesday, January 10, 2024. School has been canceled and no classes will take place

Thank you to our law enforcement and SROs for keeping us safe. LHMS appreciates you!

Staff Of The Week: Penny Bryant has been a great addition to the LHMS Staff this year. Her experience in the special education field is invaluable. Penny is adept at determining the needs of her students and making sure they are receiving adequate support. Her positive attitude and (seemingly) tireless dedication positively impact those around her (students and staff). We are thrilled to have her here at LHMS!

Staff Of The Week: Marie Martin is always willing to cover classes when we need some extra help. She is such a friend to everyone and is a big part of the reason why our school feels like such a community. Mrs. Martin is enthusiastic and truly cares about her students! Thank you for your passion for your job and your students, Mrs. Martin!

Staff of the Week: Aaron Dahl deserves the honor of Staff of the Week for his leadership last week, as other admin were out of the building. Mr. Dahl stepped in to help individuals around the school with positivity, calm, and commitment.
In addition, Mr. Dahl has received shout-outs numerous times for his contributions to LHMS Staff and students:
The back of the school is so clean. There has always been a trash tornado out in the courtyard. Thanks for fighting the good fight to help our kids show pride for our school.
Mr. Dahl is efficient, helpful, innovative, collaborative and also really fun! The fun part is my favorite part because our jobs are hard and it makes the days so much easier. So glad you are here, Mr. Dahl!

Staff Of The Week: Laura Minogue is one of the most caring counselors I have ever worked with. She takes her time to make an honest connection with students. She is so genuine and caring people just gravitate towards her. We love her energy in the office and throughout the school. We are so lucky to have her here at LHMS!

There's nothing like hope for the holidays. #GivingTuesday

LHMS Advisories created Collages of Kindness during this week before Thanksgiving.

Staff Of The Week: Dave Johnson is always helpful when we need a class covered. He is reliable and always willing to step up, always supporting the LHMS Staff.
Mr. Johnson goes out of his way to make his Math Skills class fun for his students. There have been many of his students that didn't want to leave the lesson they were in because they were having so much fun! Thank you, Mr. Johnson, for finding a way to help the kiddos that need a little extra care in math and making it fun for them.

Happy Education Support Professionals Day to Ms. Erb! Lake Hazel Middle is lucky to have you as our Math Instructional Coach!

Staff Of The Week: Heidi Arrate is so fun to watch when she works with students. She is kind, warm and gentle with them and they absolutely adore her! She has so many skills up her sleeves, but she leads with kindness and I so appreciate that about her. In addition, Ms. Arrate is an unwavering support for peers, always dedicating time to help others.

Staff Of The Week: Mrs. Levanger not only is an amazing teacher, but she puts in a lot of time creating and maintaining the Student Success Board --- the students love looking at it and seeing their names on it! Mrs. Levanger is also an advocate for her students, partnering with many teachers to get missing work for her Academic Support students. Thank you for being such a positive force at Lake Hazel Middle School! LHMS is lucky to have you!

Staff Of The Week: Beth Wood. Your willingness to co-teach and your support in letting me practice my teaching techniques in your classroom have been incredibly valuable. Your expertise and collaborative spirit make for a fantastic teaching partnership, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow alongside you.
I'm so happy that Beth came to be a part of the LHMS Staff! It is clear she cares about her students and wants to do the best to prepare them for high school!

Staff of the Week: Shaunna Crust is a supportive co-teaching partner, and I can always go to her if I have a question on anything. She makes my job easier!
Shaunna partners with my class on Fridays to play games, listen to music, walk the track, play football, and have a pickup game of streetball. My students feel valued and included working alongside her students. They have made connections outside of my classroom, which is exciting for each of them. Her students continue to say hello and high-five my students throughout the week, expanding the sense of community beyond our classrooms. Shaunna's daily dedication is making a big difference in the lives of LHMS students and LHMS Staff!

LHMS Wresting begins Monday, October 16. Open to all students grades 6-8. Practices are Monday through Friday 3:30-5:30. Register using the Aktivate tab on the school website.

Staff of the Week: Heidi Egbert cheerfully and efficiently addresses my EVERY question. She supports my parents as they wait for their student and is encouraging to my students as they navigate a late arrival or early dismissal. She always has a smile when I walk past. In general, she is AWESOME. Thank you for always keeping the calm in the front office with attendance and dealing with students, parents, and the LHMS Staff!!

Thank you to our great custodians! Yuliana, Junior, Ava, Cedric and Elena. We appreciate all of the hard work you do keeping LHMS looking great day after day.

Staff of the Week: Annalisa Nava
Not only does Annalisa always have a smile on her face and an inspiring amount of cheer in her step, she is helping her non-math peers learn math, one concept at a time. As noted by two individuals: "I am so grateful that Isa helps me with all my math questions so I can help my 6th graders in study hall. She is so patient to explain it to me" and "Isa explained constant of proportionality in easy-to-understand terms." The LHMS Staff and students are lucky to have Ms. Nava!

Staff of the Week: Stephanie Mitchell sees her students with new eyes everyday. She is constantly assessing the needs of each and every student, rewarding positive behavior and graciously correcting. Stephanie's expectations are clear and her students are responding and thriving. They are fortunate to have Ms. Mitchell and so is the LHMS Staff!
