The Idaho Dance Education Organization (IDEO) is thrilled to announce its 8th Annual Conference, "Legacy and the Future: The Limon Principles of Movement for Contemporary Practices," featuring the distinguished Dante Puleio, Artistic Director of the renowned Limón Dance Company. This transformative event will be held at the Idaho Fine Arts Academy (IFAA) in Meridian, Idaho, on Friday and Saturday, November 15-16, 2024.
Dante Puleio, a celebrated former member of the Limón Dance Company and its sixth Artistic Director, will bring his extensive expertise and innovative insights to the conference. With a career spanning over a decade with the Limón Dance Company and an MFA from the University of California, Irvine, Puleio’s work is dedicated to contextualizing mid-20th-century dance for contemporary artists and audiences, celebrating José Limón's legacy, and reimagining his vision for the 21st century.

About Dante Puleio:
A widely respected former member of the Limón Dance Company for more than a decade, Puleio is the sixth Artistic Director in the Company’s 75-year history, a position that originated with Doris Humphrey. After a diverse performing career with the Limón Dance Company, touring national and international musical theatre productions, television and film, he received his MFA from University of California, Irvine. His research focuses on contextualizing mid-20th century dance for the contemporary artist and audience. He is committed to implementing that research by celebrating José Limón's historical legacy and reimagining his intention and vision to reflect the rapidly shifting 21st century landscape.

Founded in 2015, the Idaho Dance Education Organization (IDEO) is a non-profit 50C-3 organization dedicated to advancing dance education through professional development, networking, and advocacy. IDEO provides valuable resources and opportunities for dance educators, students, and enthusiasts across Idaho. IDEO is a state affiliate to the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO).
About Idaho Fine Arts Academy:
Idaho Fine Arts Academy (IFAA) is an audition-based, free, public, arts school for grades 6-12 in the West Ada School District located in Meridian, Idaho. IFAA has institutional membership to IDEO, NDEO, and the Dance and the Child International USA (daCi). IFAA has two chapters of the National Honors Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA), one for middle school and one for high school. IFAA students are members of the daCi USA Youth Leadership program. Dancemaking and contemporary dance are at the heart of IFAA’s dance program. Students are dance majors and study dance eighty-five minutes a day, M-F. There is a middle school (6-8) cohort and a high school (9-12) cohort. The dance curriculum includes technique, choreography, improvisation, dance history, writing, research, anatomy, conditioning, filmmaking, as well as career and college preparation for a dance career. IFAA consistently ranks in the top ten percent of similarly sized schools in Idaho for academic performance.
