Colt Class Highlight: Mrs. Spiers careers class learned how to be FBI agents. Her health 7 kids have completed 656 hours of community service so far this year.
6th and 7th grade GT students competed at the regional National History Day competition last weekend. Project options were research papers, documentaries, performances, websites, or exhibit boards. 14 students from EMS will move on to compete at the state level next month. An additional 18 students placed 3rd or 4th within their category. Way to go Colts!

Colt Class Highlight: Mrs. Poppler and her students were busy this week working on the production of 3 one act plays, 15 short films, and 9 Public Service Announcements.

Colt Class Highlight: Ms. Sullivan’s 6th grade ELA students working hard on creating posters to teach their classmates about the different types of conflict.

Colt Class Highlight: In Mrs. Spenner's class they have recently completed two labs. The first one was on bird beaks that focused on beak adaptations for natural selection. Students had 3 sizes of beaks and had to compete for food to survive and reproduce to simulate what we learned about the finch beaks in the Galapagos Islands.
The 2nd lab they completed was an owl pellet dissection. They have been discussing homologous structures (same structure/different functions) and looked at bones found inside owl pellets to infer what the owl has been eating by looking at the structure of the bones found inside.
Colt Class Highlight: Mrs. Miller's 8th grade scientists built and tested a device to maximize temperature using their understanding of energy transfer and insulators. These student scientists conducted investigations, analyzed data and designed solutions to create their solar cookers.
