Last week, Mrs. Sterk's College Biology class took a field trip to the Boise Zoo. All semester students have been discussing endangered species and conservation efforts, as well as biomes and ecosystems. Students chose an animal from the zoo, and presented on its IUCN status (International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List of Threatened Species) as well as it’s biome, niche in the community, and interesting facts. They discussed why they were endangered and what conservation efforts could be done.
Students went to the zoo to see those animals as well as understand the roll zoos now play in conservation efforts. Zoo Boise donates $300,000 each year to local and global conservation efforts. David Attenborough, an English broadcaster, biologist, natural historian and author, has a saying, “No one will protect what they don't care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced”.
Congratulations to both Boys Varsity and JV Rugby Clubs for winning state this weekend 👏🐎🎾🏉 #horsepower
