September

Register for ACT or SAT (You may need a higher score for admissions and/or certain scholarships.)
Finalize your college list (4-6 colleges). Visit college websites for admission requirements, as well as application and scholarship deadlines.
Create your FSA ID and ask at least one parent to do the same.
- Your FSA ID is used to confirm your identity & electronically sign your FAFSA.
- Go to: https://studentaid.gov/help/fsa-id
Work on application essays, if required.
Create a resume using Scoir or Next Steps Idaho.
Meet college reps who come to CHS. Check Scoir for dates and to register!
Check for Early Decision or Early Action deadlines.
Request Advanced Opportunities funding for concurrent credit classes that have fall registration and complete the college registration process.

October

Try the Net Price Calculator on the college website. It can give you an early indication of how much/types of federal aid you might receive.
Start your FAFSA application when it opens (historically on October 1). Check to see if your college requires a CSS Profile.
Idaho College Application Month begins. You will have the opportunity to apply to college, work on your FAFSA, research concurrent credit transferability, etc.
Request your transcript via Scoir. Instructions are on the CHS website.
Use Scholarship Idaho for Idaho scholarship applications!
Attend FAFSA/Financial Aid Night at CHS.
Consider taking the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) and sign up in the Career Center.
Request Letters of Recommendation at least two weeks prior to the deadline.
Check for new scholarships in the Career Center!
Consider creating a separate email to use for scholarship websites.
Attend the Boise College Fair.

November

Make sure you’ve noted merit scholarship application deadlines.
Attend FAFSA Completion Night at CHS.
Taking the SAT again? Register by the deadline to take the December test.
Taking the ACT? Register by the deadline to take the December test.
If applicable, know that the deadline for many college “Early Action” applications is November 1st or 15th.
Determine if interviews or auditions are required for admission.
Check each college’s financial aid section of their website for deadlines and required forms.
Deadlines for ROTC scholarship programs are quickly approaching!

December

Check that your college(s) received your admissions application, your financial aid application, and that you have no missing items. Watch your emails for this information. Keep track of the deadlines!
Apply for scholarships during break.
If you are selected for financial aid verification, submit tax transcripts and other documents as soon as possible. Make sure to meet the school’s deadline or you will not be able to receive federal student aid.

January

Have you submitted your FAFSA? If not, set a goal to complete it by mid-month.
Continue to monitor your email, U.S. mail, or college account for any information needed by your school(s).
Continue applying for scholarships.
Request Advanced Opportunities funding for concurrent credit classes that have spring registration and complete the college registration process.

February

Make sure the college(s) where you applied received your ACT/SAT scores and transcripts.
Keep your grades up! Many colleges and universities check your senior year grades after you graduate. Don’t lose the academic scholarships you worked so hard to earn!
Complete your housing application.
Send any new ACT or SAT test scores to colleges.
Keep applying for scholarships.
If you are meeting with a college advisor, consider taking a copy of your unofficial college transcripts to the appointment. That will give the advisor a good idea of the college credits you earned while in high school. Instructions to access concurrent credit transcripts can be found on Centennial’s website.

March

Watch your mail for college acceptance letters if you applied “regular decision”.
Watch your college account for important orientation information. You can’t sign up for classes if you haven’t completed orientation.
Plan for possible college visits during spring break.
Check for new scholarships.

April

Most financial aid award letters arrive this month.
Contact the college if you have any questions about the financial aid package offered to you. Ask for an APPEAL if you feel there are extenuating financial circumstances that should be considered.
Send a letter of non-acceptance to each school you applied to but are not attending.
If wait-listed, send supporting material.
Complete the senior exit survey in class. This is also when you will tell us where to send your final transcript.
KEEP YOUR GRADES UP! Colleges can deny acceptance if your GPA slides below what is required for admission.
Send a thank you note to any organization, individual, or group who awarded you a private scholarship.

May

Take AP exams.
Register for college courses. Make sure you have talked with a college advisor first!
Request an official transcript from each of the colleges from which you earned college credit. Have the transcript(s) sent to the college you are attending. This must be done through the college website(s) as we do not have this information at CHS. Instructions can be found on Centennial’s website or in the Career Center.
If you can’t remember the concurrent credit courses you took, or from where you earned them, CHECK YOUR ADVANCED OPPORTUNITIES ACCOUNT. It has the credits you earned for the past four years (if you paid for them using AO funds).
Share your scholarship awards with the Career Center. We want to share the good news!!
GRADUATION!!

June

A final transcript will be sent to ONE college. Mark "Enrolling" in Scoir for the college you plan to attend - this is where we'll send your final transcript.
