Dear Alternative School Families,
We want to share some important updates about changes coming to West Ada’s Alternative Education programs starting in the 2025-2026 school year. These changes are designed with your children’s success in mind, and we want to be as transparent and supportive as possible throughout this transition.
As part of this restructuring, Rebound School of Opportunity and Virtual School House (VSH) will be moving to the current Central Academy building. This move will allow us to provide better resources and new opportunities for students across the West Ada School District.
Why This Change?
We believe these updates will bring meaningful benefits to our students, including:
Greater access to CTE classes.
Accommodate students who work or may need to help with childcare of siblings in the home.
Continued emphasis on mastery-based learning led by our dedicated staff.
More enrollment opportunities for students at Rebound and VSH.
Improved facilities that support collaboration, testing, and enhanced safety.
A stronger tiered system of support for students in alternative programs.
Higher graduation rates and academic success for students in alternative settings.
What This Means for Alternative Academy Families
Students currently attending Central Academy will transition to either Eagle Academy or Meridian Academy, depending on their current attendance boundary:
Eagle Academy will serve students from Eagle High, Owyhee High, and Rocky Mountain High.
Meridian Academy will serve students from Mountain View High, Meridian High, and Centennial High.
For the 25-26 school year all academy students will have the option to attend either a morning session of in-person school or an afternoon session of in-person school. A tentative daily schedule is as follows:
In-person morning session from 7:45am – 10:45am, with 2 hours of asynchronous learning scheduled in the afternoon.
Busing is still available to and from the academies at the start of school and at midday. Students enrolled in CTE courses will still be able to access shuttles to and from the centers.
In-person afternoon session from 11:15am – 2:15pm, with 2 hours of asynchronous learning scheduled for the morning.
Busing is still available to and from the academies at midday and at the end of the day. Students enrolled in CTE courses will still be able to access shuttles to and from the centers.
Lunch will be served from 10:45am – 11:15am and available for students of both in-person morning and in-person afternoon sessions.
