Pharmacy Technician

The West Ada Career Technical Education (CTE) Pharmacy Technician program provides high school students hands-on training as they explore a career as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. This pathway utilizes Pass Assured Pharmacy Technician Training software, a program which is recognized by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. This program prepares students for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Boards' national PTCB exam.

Students in this pathway will have the advantage of receiving lab time in the Idaho State University (ISU) compounding pharmacy lab, thanks to an industry partnership between the two educational institutions. With instruction from ISU College of Pharmacy faculty members, students will explore what working in a compounding lab entails by putting their skills to the test. In addition, Pharmacy Technician students will have the opportunity to participate in an externship, where they will work under preceptor pharmacist in a local pharmacy.

10th grade, full year class
Medical Terminology
11th grade, semester class
Pharmacy Technician
12th grade, full year class

*Note: Successful completion of Chemistry and Math II will provide relevant knowledge and understanding when advancing through this pathway.

CTE Center- Renaissance Campus

For the Pharmacy Technician program, students will travel to the CTE Center- Renaissance Campus for their 11th and 12th grade pathway classes.

The CTE Center-Renaissance Campus is located on the Renaissance High School campus, in Meridian, Idaho. This campus features a state of the art career technical facility, housing numerous CTE programs as well as serving students as a School of Choice High School that focuses on academic rigor and college readiness.
