HOBY

Founded in 1958, HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service, and innovation. HOBY programs are conducted annually throughout the United States, serving local and international high school students. HOBY provides students, for whom most are selected by their schools, the opportunity to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning, and motivation-building experiences, beginning a lifelong dedication to improving the lives of others. Due to the selfless efforts of volunteers and the contributions of generous donors, more than 10,000 students participate in HOBY programs annually.

HOBY's flagship program allows high school sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them in becoming effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community. Students attend three- to four-day seminars and participate in hands-on leadership activities, meet leaders in their state, and explore their own personal leadership skills while learning how to make a positive impact in their community. The seminar curriculum is based on the Social Change Model of Leadership and develops leadership from three perspectives: Personal Leadership, Group Leadership, and Leadership for Society.

What is Scoir?

Scoir (score) is a college admissions network that connects students, families, high schools, and colleges for a better admissions experience. The journey to college starts with self-exploration, and our network can help you take those first steps with our YouScience assessment. Our college search network is designed to help you find your best-fit college. Scoir is also one place to keep your conversations about college organized through direct messages from your counselors, and/or parents/guardians about opportunities, deadlines, and anything else helpful to your college journey. You can make meaningful connections and control your conversations with colleges through Scoir. Once you follow a college, you can receive outreach from colleges based on your interests, academic focus, class year, and more. You can also send your high school transcripts to a college when you're applying through your Scoir account.
