Pathways MS Library Policies and Important Information
Library Checkout Policies:
The school librarian, Ms. Davis, is available at the library every other Monday and every Thursday. When Ms. Davis is not at school, parent volunteers open the library during the lunch period. If you are interested in becoming a parent volunteer, please contact Ms. Davis at davis.janna@westada.org.
Students may check out up to 5 books for 3 weeks (or 15 school days) at a time. They may renew their items for an additional 3 weeks as long as no one else has requested the book.
Students can place book holds from home or school using the Destiny Library Catalog page (found in the West Ada apps). When their requested items become available, the library will deliver the books directly to the students in one of their classrooms.
We are currently not imposing any late fines for overdue books. However, if a book is not returned within 30 days, it will be marked as LOST. In this case, the student will need to either return the book or pay for the replacement cost of the item.
Library Fines:
We will not be charging fines for late or overdue library books. We appreciate when books are returned on time or renewed for continued reading.
However, items not returned or renewed after 30 days will automatically be listed as LOST and moved into the student's account as a fine. If the item is in the student's possession and returned, the fine will be dropped.
Library Lost/Damaged Books:
If books are damaged, fines are assessed depending on the type and amount of damage.
If books are damaged and need to be replaced OR LOST, a fine is put on the student's account to replace the book. Instead of paying a fine, parents and students are welcome to bring in a replacement copy, and the fine will be deleted.
Lost/Damaged technology devices:
If laptops or chargers are damaged, students bring them to Ms. Davis and receive a replacement.
Ms. Davis emails home to let parents know about the damage.
IT will assess fines depending on the type and amount of damage. IT also looks at whether the student's family purchased device insurance.
Fines can be paid through the Parent Portal in PowerSchool.
Fees determined by West Ada IT department or at the discretion of the building administration

All Library and Textbook Fines/Fees Must Be Paid Before End of School Year
All fines and fees for library books and/or textbooks must be paid in full before the end of the current school year. This ensures clarity and allows students to start the next school year with a clean slate regarding their library and textbook obligations.
