If a student exits a class before the class period is complete, the student may be given a Tardy Late (TL) or absence (A) as the administrator deems appropriate.
Tardy Detention
MVHS Tardy Procedure/Protocol
Revised 10/29/21
MVHS will be implementing a new tardy procedure for students. We believe it is important for all students to be in class and be on time to maximize learning. The following is an overview of our new protocol and procedure.
Every student is allowed 3 tardies per class without consequence per semester.
On a students 4th tardy in a class, they will be lunch detentions to be served the next two school days.
When a student misses more than 15 minutes of class, they will be marked tardy late (TL). Tardy late’s (TL) are tracked by the assistant principals and they will assign consequences for Tardy Late’s (TL).
Tardies will be served during lunch, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Contact the Administrator of Safety and Behavior with your questions or concerns.
Dress Code
IS YOUR STUDENT IN VIOLATION OF THE DRESS CODE?
Mountain View's dress code policy is as stated, in part, below. We have reoccurring issues with students who are inappropriately dressed for school. Please have discussions with your student regarding his/her choice of apparel. We appreciate your support!
A degree of modesty is expected. Any apparel that draws undue attention to a student tends to detract from the educational process and is therefore inappropriate. Any article of clothing, jewelry, or make-up which draws undue attention, is unsafe, or is disruptive to the educational process will be considered inappropriate.
Examples include but are not limited to:
Clothing that does not cover the stomach, back, chest/cleavage, or undergarments
Tank tops, spaghetti straps, tube tops, off-the-shoulder shirts are not permitted
Spiked clothing, belts or jewelry
Safety pins
Any attire shorter than mid-thigh length –any attire with holes above mid-thigh
Pajamas or boxer shorts worn as outerwear
Hats, hoods, bandanas, or other head covering
In addition:
Footwear must be worn at all times
Athletic/Activity uniforms worn during the school day must adhere to the dress code policy
Violations of the dress code will lead to disciplinary action.
Extra-Curricular F Policy
Each week an F report will be generated by the activities director and sent to each in-season head coach/advisor.
If a student has an F on the day that it is generated, they are ineligible for all extra-curricular activities UNTIL they have a “D” or better in that class.
Each coach/advisor keeps their F report and marks students off of the list. A student becomes eligible when either:
A Power School print off is given to the coach/advisor OR the teacher writes the student a note stating they have a “D” or better in that class and the note is given to the coach/advisor.
When there are multiple weeks in between assignments/tests where a student cannot improve their grade, the instructor may sign off on the student after the student has served the one week suspension of activities AND quality work, effort and tutoring has taken place in that class.
If a student feels there is an extraordinary circumstance they can request a review from a principal. If the principal approves the request the teacher, coach and student-athlete will be notified.
