MVHS CHOIRS

MVHS Choirs

Welcome to the Mountain View High School Choir Department!

My name is Dr. Steve Danielson, and I am delighted and honored to be the Choir Director here at MVHS. This is my second year teaching at Mountain View, but my 16th year teaching choir. I look forward to getting to know all students and parents throughout this school year.  Whether the student has never sung before or they sing all the time, I will aim to create an environment that will help all feel comfortable to experiment with their voice and be expressive in their singing.

I believe music is an incredible gift that brings people together. Performing in a choral ensemble provides students with so much beyond musical training.  Students learn cooperation and teamwork, commitment and responsibility, as well as perseverance and self-discipline.  Students who participate in a choir are shown to perform better in their studies, especially in math.  They also exhibit improved confidence and self-esteem.  I encourage you to help your child become involved in music in some way, whether it is listening to music together, taking private lessons, or attending local concerts.

About The Choir Program

Class Compositions 2024

Below, you'll find four score videos showing the music written by the choirs at MVHS. As a class, the students selected a theme, selected text, created melodies, and made other suggestions and changes. Dr. Danielson guided the process and created the piano part. All four pieces were premiered at our concert on May 14, 2024.
