Welcome to fifth grade!  I hope you are just as excited as I am to start a new year!     I’m Mrs. Mayer and this is my thirteenth year of teaching.   I began at Joplin as a student teacher and then was lucky enough to be hired on the next fall as a part-time 5th grade teacher.  I have taught fifth grade for 11 years and second grade for 1 year. I love Joplin and think it is such a special school. We will have a blast this year!

I graduated from Boise State University in 2009, so you can guess that my family and I are avid BSU football fans.  My husband and I love going to football games and have had season tickets for years. BSU football games are our favorite! We hope that this year our boys tag along with us to some of the games.  As I mentioned, I have two boys who keep me very busy!  My oldest son, Noah, will be a fifth grader and my youngest, Gibson, will be a second grader this year. They both attend Joplin Elementary, too!

Fifth grade is such a special year.  It is jam packed with fun activities and awesome learning opportunities.  I hope all of you are as excited as I am to dive in and learn new things.  I’m looking forward to a great school year and can’t wait to get to know all of my students and their families.
