West Ada Instructional Model
Instructional Models are guidelines or sets of strategies on which the approaches to teaching by instructors are based. Effective instructional models are based on learning theories. Learning Theories describe the ways that theorists believe people learn new ideas and concepts.
Within West Ada, we use the FIT model of instruction to guide learning. The FIT model encompasses five concepts that are interdependent on each other for improved instruction. The five concepts are cultivating a learning climate, instructing with intention, assessing with a system, impacting student learning, and planning with a purpose. The foundation of our instructional model is a professional learning community in which staff works collaboratively to plan and assess with a purpose for improved learning. The High-Reliability Schools framework is a research-based hierarchy of best practices we use to assess our learning system. The instructional model ultimately provides a vision or road map to ensure students are best prepared for college and career.
