Literary Games: West Ada Reading Challenge
Nov. 1st, 2023-April 1st, 2024
Rules
The West Ada School District’s Literary Games are designed to encourage/push you to read a wider variety of things this year. Because it is a personal challenge, not a contest, most of it is based on the honor system. However, you will get the most benefit from this challenge, and will truly earn your prize(s), if you follow the intended rules and guidelines.
Participants include West Ada students who are in grades 6-12 in the current school year as well as district staff.
Read one book in 30 different categories.
Document each book you read on its category page in your Literary Games Notebook. Documenting must include the title, the author, and a description. The description can be anything, including a picture, favorite quote, review, etc. Pick up a notebook in the library.
You can only count a book for one category, even if it could fit in multiple categories. Pick the best fit!
Books must be at least 100 pages long unless noted by an asterisk (*). Those books with an asterisk may be shorter than 100 pages if you wish.
You should strive to read books appropriate for your age and reading level.
You should choose books that you have not previously read (except for category 29).
Unabridged audiobooks count for any category.
Graphic novels count for any category.
Books must be finished between November 1, 2023- April 1st, 2024 to count.
You must turn in your Literary Games Notebook to your school librarian by the end of the school day on April 1st, 2024.

Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books will start in the fall. This is an optional reading program that students can participate in from grades 6-9. Because of the wide range of grades, the books cover a wide range of age interests and genres. Teams of up to 4 students (with one alternate) will read the books listed below. As a team, you can decide how to split up the books or if you want to read them all. Some of the books may not appeal to you because of the genre or content, so work with your team to find the books right for you.
