The only way to waive an absence is by using the processes listed below. All other absences, even with a parent call, will be counted as part of the 6 absences per semester.

WEST ADA SECONDARY ATTENDANCE POLICY

Tardy Policy:

All students MUST check in and out through the front office when coming late or leaving early.

If the student is at a medical appointment, please ask for a school note and bring it when you check in at school.

We ask parents to call the office to excuse a tardy to Advisory as well.

3 unexcused tardies =lunch detention

Each lunch detention served will remove 1 unexcused tardy. If they receive another tardy, they will have to serve lunch detention again.

Picking up a student early:

Please call at least 1 hour prior to have your child in the office waiting at a specific time (208-350-4255).

·         Please bring in a note to the office if your child was attending a doctor, dentist, eye, or therapist appointment, etc., to have the absence waived.

 Planned Absences/Independent Study Forms:

There may be instances when your student will need to miss school due to a trip, medical event, sports, family needs, etc. To have the absence not count against the student, the following steps must take place:

1.      Students will pick up a Planned Absence/Independent Study Form from the office (see link to form on attendance page also) to get completed by teachers and return to office 48 hrs prior to each trip.

2.     Students must have passing grades in all classes to not count absence against them.

3.     Students do not have any truancies or school suspensions.

 Extracurricular Activities:

Students must be in attendance the entire school day to participate in extracurricular activities after school or the evening of that same day.

Exceptions include situations beyond the control of the student such as court appearance, bereavement, medical/dental appointments, etc. and require documentation.

Students who are suspended, including in-school suspension for a major discipline offence, are not allowed to practice or participate in school activities that day.
