The Marksmanship Club is for students interested in shooting sports.

The club meets at RMHS throughout the year to plan events.  The club tries to have a shoot at a local gun club once a month. All shooting events will be shotgun events shooting clay targets - Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays.

To be in the club students must:
Have a 2.8 GPA at the end of each semester
Have an Idaho Fish and Game Hunters Education Card
Attend meetings to the best of your ability
 
 

December's Activity is scheduled for Saturday December 10th

Our next Marksmanship Club shoot will be held on December 10th at the Caldwell Gun Club from 10:00am - 1:00pm. The Caldwell Gun Club is located at 21840 Pond Ln, Caldwell, ID 83607. They have a website that is easy to access through a Google search. Also, the location can be found via MAPS search. (West on I-84 from Caldwell. Take the Notus Exit, the landmark is the big yellow Rocky Mountain Fur & Fireworks building. Turn left toward Notus, follow Hwy 26 for approximately 1.5 miles to POND LANE – turn left. The Caldwell Gun Club is located approximately ¼ mile south on Pond Lane.)

 We are going to begin to keep your scores for a running total. Report all 25 round scores to Kyle Schmidt (Club President).

Who is eligible to attend Range activities? In order to participate students must have completed the following:

  1. Taken and passed the Idaho Hunter’s Education Course with the Field Day and have been issued a Hunter’s Education Card.
  2. Completed the Scholastic Marksmanship Club Application paperwork with parent signature
  3. Paid the $30.00 club dues
  4. Students under 18 years old will need to attend with an adult/parent.Range Day Costs: (IMPORTANT - CASH ONLY at the Caldwell Gun Club)
  • Cost per Round - $3.00 for 25 shot round of clays
  • $ - Each student needs to bring at least 2 boxes of shotgun shells (7 ½ - 8 shot size, lead only) Shotgun shells can be found at almost any sporting goods store and run approximately $5-6 per box.

  • Safety protocol for arriving at the range with firearms:
    • Make sure all firearms are unloaded prior to travel to the range
    • Leave firearms in your vehicle until you receive instruction to take it to the trap area.
    • When you arrive, make sure the action of the firearm is open when carrying it to the trap area.
  • Attend the range safety briefing before buying your range tickets.
  • Food and Drinks: Bring something FUN, we usually set out and share cookies, chili, soda, etc. Everyone bring something fun to share.

Remember, all students planning on attending Range Events should have completed their Hunters Safety Course and turned in the Club Application Packet.  Students please plan to attend all club meetings at school.  Feel free to contact Mr. Stevenson or Mr. Blaser via email if you have any questions.

GENERAL FYI STUFF - Range Day Costs: (Caldwell Gun Club)(Boise Gun Club)

Range fee - Youth = $3.00/round (25+ clay targets per round) NOTE - The Caldwell Club only deals in CASH, no credit/debit cards. 

$ - Each student needs to bring at least 2-3 box of ammunition (#7 1/2 - #8 Shot Size) that matches the shotgun you plan to shoot.

  • Eyes and Ears - All students will be required to have eye protection and ear protection at the range. The Club will have loaner protection at the Range.
